Fine Line Abstracts

If you have ever wanted to try abstract painting but were too intimidated then THIS CLASS IS FOR YOU!!!!

Learn how to overcome the fear of a blank canvas quickly by jump-starting the canvas with expressive first marks. Then we will cut through the overwhelming color choices by limiting the selections. To start the painting we will use a visually contrasting pallet of only white, black, and 1 or 2 color/s of your choice.  Too many choices can sometimes paralyze us into making no choice. Limiting the color choices will free up our minds to focus on the process.

During this class you will work on a 20×20 gallery stretched canvas. I’ll share my approach to using high flow acrylics, heavy body acrylics, and acrylic markers to create a monochromatic abstract painting. We will use unique tools and techniques to create beautiful layers and texture.

In this class, we will focus on loosening up our abstract painting style, building confidence, and paint more freely. Letting color take a back seat, we will let intuitive line drawings influence and spark your creativity.

Throughout the workshop I’ll share my techniques of building layers, covering over past layers, editing, refining, creating interest with lines, and adding concentrated areas of color in the painting.

At the end of this class, you will learn to frame your painting in a natural wood floater frame. This simply elegant frame will “float” your painting between the edge of the frame and the canvas, giving your painting a sophisticated and graceful presentation.
